With the holidays just a few weeks away, you’re probably in the middle of exams and maybe your work schedule is actively trying to kill you. So by the end of the day, all you really want to do is fire up Netflix, get close to a few boxes of cookies and not move from your bed and/or couch for a few hours.

Netflix Canada is here to help with that thanks to a bunch of new additions. Here’s whats New on Netflix Canada for December:

The Godfather Trilogy

Do you have an entire day to watch all three films of this very important and, for the most part, very good trilogy? If so, grab the salami, some provolone and enjoy. This mob-drama franchise revolves around the Corleone family and is directed by Francis Ford Coppola.  The Godfather is solid, but it’s The Godfather Part II that elevates the series and argues why sequels can and should be better than their predecessor. The Godfather Part III on the other hand? Well, not so much.

Pitch Perfect

What can I say about Pitch Perfect that hasn’t already been said? You know there’s a sequel coming, right? Let’s say you’re reading this and you, for some insane reason, have never seen it: just give in and finally watch it with a smile on your face the entire time. If you have seen it, go ahead and watch it for the 6 millionth time.

Argo

Argo, thee 2013 Best Picture winner, saw Ben Affleck at the top of his other game as a director. The film is based on the true story of the six Americans taken hostage in Iran in the 1980s and the CIA’s collaboration with Hollywood to get them out. While I still think Zero Dark Thirty deserved Best Picture that year, Argo is genuinely thrilling, tense and unnerving.

The Grand Budapest Hotel

One of my favourite movies of this year is The Grand Budapest Hotel. Wes Anderson’s follow up to the adored box-office smash, Moonrise Kindgom, is more of what we’ve come to expect from him: beautiful colours, weirdly sweet characters, a wonderful love story at the center and a cast chockfull of your faves (Tilda Swinton, Bill Murray, Owen Wilson, Ralph Fiennes).

Killer Joe

Killer Joe came somewhere at the beginning of the McConsaissance. Here, McConaughey plays a cop who is also a hit-man and agrees to kill the mother of a very desperate drug dealer in exchange for his sister. So, you know, just a light comedy. It is brutal, it is off-kilter, it is disturbing, unsettling and as dark as it is twisted. McConaughey gives a solid performance and you’ll never think of fried chicken the same again.
